This machine is rigged to challenge its user with an impossible task: to place a bead on each length of steel tubing before the vibration motors shake the device. The intervals between each time the motors vibrate decreases each time, causing the worker’s actions to be more stressed and frantic. The performance replicates the experience of workers in globalized factory jobs. Beads are produced in factories overseas. Contemporary globalization requires us to think about the processes that create the objects and materials that surround us.
